40% OFF Sound Equipment
AMP Sound Systems are offering a special sponsorship program for new bands who want to get off the starting block, but have limited or no funds.
The first step for a new band is usually a small local pub, playing through their own amps, and with a cheap karaoke microphone plugged into a guitar amp. The idea of playing in the pub is firstly to gain the experience of playing in front of people, but another main reason is to try and get called back to that pub again, and hopefully get paid the next time. But this approach usually ends in disaster, as without adequate equipment and engineering skills, the audience can often only hear drums banging and see lips moving, but hear no vocals. Understandably, most bands don’t get another call from their first pub.
The aim of this program is to enable young bands to make that first move, to launch their music career with a fantastic, powerful first performance that will blow the audience away, and most importantly; make the audience remember you. But firstly they need to have talent, and secondly they have to have the right equipment set up so that the audience can actually hear that talent. All too often I have seen very talented bands sound worse simply because they don’t have the technical expertise. However, before I agree to help you there are only two requirements you need to fulfil. I’m sure you’ll understand why.
The requirements:
- You need Talent – People have to like your music. Talent is an obvious factor when it comes to the music industry. You also need potential to be something bigger. You have to be good!
- You get on with me – I am doing this to try and help you get off the ground. Be nice!
There are a few reasons that I started this program. Firstly, I enjoy watching good young bands play, and at the same time I hate seeing them on the stage and having to cringe every time the guitar hits a high note! I’ve often wanted to just go up to the mixing desk and set a decent mix! So I am going to try and help. Secondly, I was kind of doing it already; helping a few of my friends’ bands with their gigs. I knew they just didn’t have the money to pay me to do a gig, but I did it for them anyway, because they were very good, and when they started to make money, I would be their first choice as a tried and trusted engineer. So I am going to offer my expertise to a special select few of you young bands out there.
So, the plan is to:
- Contact me.
- Arrange a gig between us.
- Let us set up a rig and engineer the gig for you.
- And then hopefully work with you again in the near future.
I have tried to keep the information clear, simple and personal. I have worked with many young bands and I know that they just don’t want to hear about the frequency response of my SM58’s. Your band doesn’t need to have any knowledge about the gear. Your rig will be set up and engineered with your band having to do little or even nothing. If special setups are needed for any reason, we will do our best to facilitate and organise them.
We are offering cut rates for your first 3 gigs. Rates such as 40% off for under 18’s, and 25% off if you are under 22. The cost of these gigs can be as low as €165 and can vary with different locations, equipment required etc. For this unbelievable price, you will get a full, professional sound rig and the engineer for the night. For those of you who have done your research, you will know that the cost of hiring a competent engineer and all his gear can be 2 or 3 times more than what I am offering, for exactly the same job. The gig will be treated the same as a fully paid-for gig, so you will get the usual professional services supplied by AMP Sound Systems. Your small payment will not cover the huge costs involved in setting up a professional sound rig, so believe me when I tell you that you are getting a good deal!
After the first three gigs I will have no choice but to charge full price, for the reason that even though I would love to make sure you make it, I just can’t survive without getting paid.
If this sounds like you or your band, contact me immediately and hopefully we will get your show on the road.
Regards,

- Although we will try to get the best rig for your gig, the gear used will depend on engineer’s choice, risks involved, timing and availability of gear.
